New Delhi (ILNS): An RTI application has been filed by Saket Gokhale, an RTI activist, seeking information about the backlog of interim bail applications before the Supreme Court and enquired about the average time it takes for the listing of the interim bail applications.
The issue relates to a currently burning discussion on to irregularities in the urgent listing of matters, as Arnab Goswami’s interim bail application gets listed with two days. Similarly, Prashant Bhushan’s review plea in his contempt case got placed in the charts within a few days, whereas several similar applications take a lot of time to get listed.

· Please state the current backlog/number of cases of interim bail applications pending with the Registry of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India that haven’t had a first listing yet as on 12/11/2020.
· Please state the average waiting period between filing of interim bail applications with the Registry and their listing in front of the appropriate Hon’ble Bench.”
