Supreme Court to hear plea on shortage of water in Delhi today

Delhi seems to be on the brink of another disaster, as the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has told the Supreme Court that it is facing a critical shortage of water supply from Haryana and Punjab.

ILNS: The Supreme Court will today hear the petition regarding the shortage of water, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A bench of Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice M.R. Shah will hear the plea.

After a shortage of hospital beds, of life-saving drugs and oxygen, comes the shortage of another life-saver: Water. Delhi seems to be on the brink of another disaster, as the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has told the Supreme Court that it is facing a critical shortage of water supply from Haryana and Punjab.

The DJB said if the water supply situation does not improve, it may have to restrict the supply of water to hospitals in Delhi, which are at present overwhelmed by the massive number of Covid-19 cases
