Supreme Court Collegium recommends transfer of 5 Chief Justices of High Courts, recommends elevation of 8 judges to Chief Justices

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of the Chief Justices of five High Courts to other states. The Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Justice N.V. Ramana has made the recommendations on September 16.

Tripura High Court Chief Justice Akil Abdulhamid Kureshi has been recommended to be transferred from to the High Court of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty has been recommended to be transferred as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.

Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq has been recommended to be transferred to the High Court of Himachal Pradesh as Chief Justice.

Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder has been recommended to be transferred to the Sikkim High Court as its Chief Justice.

Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami has been recommended to be transferred to the High Court of Chhattisgarh as its Chief Justice.

The Collegium has also recommended the elevation of 8 Judges as Chief Justices of the High Courts, as given below:

Justice Rajesh Bindal, the Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court.

Justice Ranjit Vasantrao More of the Meghalaya High Court has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

Justice Satish Chandra Sharma of the KArnataka High Court has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.

Justice Prakash Shrivastava of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.

Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath of the Himachal Pradesh High Court has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. 

Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi of the Allahabad High Court has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.

Justice Aravind Kumar of the Karnataka High Court has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court. 

Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra of the Chhattisgarh High Court has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
