The body of Mahant Narendra Giri was found hanging from the ceiling fan in Baghambri Gaddi Math in Prayagraj on 20 September. A suicide note was also recovered from him, in which he had accused his disciple Anand Giri, Aadya Tiwari, and Sandeep Tiwari of mental torture.

The PIL in Allahabad High Court further seeks the immediate suspension of the District Magistrate and Special Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj. The letter petition has been filed through lawyer Sunil Choudhary in person.
