New Delhi (ILNS): Attorney General KK Venugopal today gave his nod to initiate criminal contempt of court proceedings against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra for his tweets against the Supreme Court of India.

A letter has been written to the Attorney General of India requesting his consent for initiation of fresh proceedings against advocate Prashan Bhushan under Section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, read with Rule 3(c) of The Rules To Regulate Proceedings For Contempt of Supreme Court 1975.

The Supreme Court today held Prashant Bhushan guilty of Contempt of Court. The court was to deliver its judgment today on the suo motu contempt case initiated against the advocate for two of his contentious tweets that allegedly brought disrepute to the institution of the top court.
