The outgoing year saw the working of the courts hit by the second wave of Covid-19. Despite that, the Apex Court continued with virtual hearings and then physical hearings as things began to get better until Omicron came calling.

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding a ban on rallies by political parties ahead of the upcoming Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur over fears of the spread of the new omicron variant.

Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan observed that citizens need not be ashamed to carry a vaccination certificate with the photograph of the Prime Minister as he is the leader of the country and not of a political party.
