The Delhi High Court granted bail to Furkan, Mohd Arif, Shadab Ahmad, Suvaleen and Tabassum, who all have been in judicial custody since last year, for allegedly causing the death of Head Constable Ratan Lal, as also causing serious head injuries to the DCP North-East and damaging public property
The court of Additional Sessions Judge, Karkardooma observed, "The sort of investigation conducted in the instant case and the lack of supervision thereof by the superior officers clearly depicts that the investigating agency has merely tried to pull the wool over the Court’s eyes and nothing else.
Senior Advocate Trideep Pais said, "UAPA, POTA, PMLA are distrust of judiciary. These are enacted so that your (judiciary) hands are tied. This is a joke. No accused should be held in this FIR. This is a cooked-up FIR."
The Delhi Police has told the Delhi High Court that the police is unable to establish who leaked Asif Iqbal Tanha chargesheet details, confession to media. The matter has been deferred till August 11, 2021.

The two have been held in a case related to a larger conspiracy in the Northeast Delhi riots in February last year. The Court deferred the hearing on Tuesday, after want of verification of their addresses.
