The Bench of Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice V. Ramasubranian granted bail to Sopan, convicted for the offence of demand of dowry and dowry death of his wife. Sachin Pahwa , advocate for the Petitioner Sopan apprised the Bench that he has already undergone 5 years of his sentence.

The Apex Court Bench observed this act to be well planned murder. Vinay Kumar, advocate for the Petitioner Naresh argued that in the testimonies of witnesses , the role of Naresh has not been ascribed in the alleged crime.

The Bench, while issuing a notice in the petition, directed a stay on five FIRs registered against her in different states. The court has listed the matter after six weeks.

The Supreme Court refused to give any relief to disgruntled sons who have challenged the order of Madras High Court for initiation of contempt proceedings against them as they have not vacated their father’s property.

TThe Supreme Court expressed its concerns over the impersonation of sureties and issued a notice to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to find out the solution of verification by the judicial officers for its authentication as part of good governance.

The Supreme Court today has noted that even charges have not been framed though considerable time has lapsed and 156 proceedings have been held prior to framing of charges in a case related to embezzlement of more than 70 crore rupees.

A two-judge bench headed by the Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Hemant Gupta has issued notice and placed the matter before the appropriate bench.
