The Jabalpur Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday has disposed of the Public Interest Litigation with the direction to the Jabalpur Regional Manager of the State Pollution Control Board to take action on the complaint of polluting the environment by a rice mill in Katangi in Balaghat district.

According to the petition, respondent No. 4 and 5 have applied for conversion of the land bearing Khasra No.107/11 ad-measuring 1.137 hectares out of which 1.00 acres of land was applied for conversion for commercial purposes on 21.12.2015.

The Jabalpur bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday dismissed the petition of contract employees seeking a direction to the state to continue them in service and to treat them as regular employees.

The Petitioner's counsel Bhupendra Kumar Shukla stated that the petitioner may not be assigned night duty as he is suffering from mental illness and depression.

In the petition it was stated that because of new market shifts vegetables are not being sold as a result price of the vegetables are increasing rapidly and vegetables are getting spoiled in the field.

The PIL sought actions as people experience sleep disorders, fatigue, headache, memory loss, depression, hearing problems, joint pains, skin diseases etc.

The petitioner, R.S. Gautam, filed the writ aggrieved by the order of suspension dated January 25, 2021

“The Collector being the sole authority can take appropriate decisions considering the provisions of the policy”, the Court clarified.

Manoj Kushwaha, a panel lawyer, submitted that the representations were filed by the petitioner way back in 2012 and 2017.
