Naval Academy examination

Supreme Court bench passed the interim order while hearing the plea filed by Kush Kalra that women be allowed to sit for the examination for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission on 5th September.

The petition is filed by an advocate, who said women being not allowed admission to the National Defence Academy (NDA) is a violation of the fundamental right of equality and the right to practice a profession.

This opportunity to take the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination at the age of 15-18 years is not available to eligible female candidates and the sole reason for this categorical exclusion is on the basis of their sex
