The Delhi High Court has on Monday deferred its hearing till November 29 in an application filed by NGO Telecom Watchdog seeking suo motu contempt proceedings against Department of Telecom (DoT) Secretary Anshu Prakash, DoT USO Fund Deputy Administrator (T-II) Ashi Kapoor.....
A bench Supreme Court said that the suo motu extension of limitation period will stand withdrawn with effect from October 1, 2021. The Court observed that as the COVID-19 cases have come down and indicated that a buffer period of 90 days will be given with effect from October 1.
The Supreme Court today issued a notice in a plea filed challenging the demolition order passed by the Patna High Court in its suo motu proceedings against the said illegal structure constructed in close proximity of the northern side of the newly inaugurated Centenary Building of the High Court.
The Tripura High Court had earlier taken suo motu cognizance of an incident in which a lady died by suicide after a video showing her in a compromising position was leaked and displayed in public in front of the members of the village community.
The Court held that the State Government also stepped in and did its effort in bringing out a Government order dated January 04, 2018, for controlling the blatant misuse of loudspeakers. The said Public Interest Litigation is still pending before the Court.
The Supreme Court will pronounce its judgment on Tuesday in a suo motu matter titled “In Re: Problems and Miseries of Migrant Labourers” dealing with the problems and miseries of migrant labourers who had been stranded in the different parts of the Country amid the COVID19 pandemic. The Court had reserved its verdict on June 11, 2021.
The Court stated that the during such crisis, certain persons involved in supply of the medicines or having access to medicines are trying to exploit the needy patients by selling such medicines at astronomical prices.
