The Tripura High Court had earlier taken suo motu cognizance of an incident in which a lady died by suicide after a video showing her in a compromising position was leaked and displayed in public in front of the members of the village community.
The Court held that the State Government also stepped in and did its effort in bringing out a Government order dated January 04, 2018, for controlling the blatant misuse of loudspeakers. The said Public Interest Litigation is still pending before the Court.
The Supreme Court will pronounce its judgment on Tuesday in a suo motu matter titled “In Re: Problems and Miseries of Migrant Labourers” dealing with the problems and miseries of migrant labourers who had been stranded in the different parts of the Country amid the COVID19 pandemic. The Court had reserved its verdict on June 11, 2021.
