Video: Surat court sentences Rahul Gandhi to 2-year jail term in defamation case

A Surat court held Rahul Gandhi guilty of defaming the Modi community surname and sentenced him to 2-year jail term.  He has been given 30 days to appeal the order.

The Supreme Court has quashed the SCBA plea to set up SCBA lawyers’ chambers on Supreme Court land. The Court said it is necessary to balance the needs of various stakeholders.

The Allahabad High Court granted relief to cabinet minister Swatantra Dev Singh in a murder case by refusing a CBI inquiry into the case.

At the Ramnath Goenka Awards, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said responsible journalism takes democracy forward. He called upon journalists’ need to be fair and fearless, especially in the digital age. The CJI also warned of the dangers posed to the country by fake news.
