Delta Plus variant: Delhi High Court, District Courts to be on virtual hearing system till July 23

The Full Court of Delhi High Court through its office order today reviewed the existing arrangement of hearing of matters before the Delhi High Court and the District Courts in Delhi. It observed that despite there being a decline in the number of Covid-19 cases in the NCT of Delhi, utmost precaution needs to be taken in view of the expected third wave and limited availability of vaccines.

Considering the threat of the Delta Plus variant, the Full Court (Delhi High Court) has resolved to adopt a policy of wait and watch and to act cautiously, particularly in view of the loss of precious lives of judicial officers, advocates, and court staff.

In continuation of its earlier orders, the Full Court of Delhi High Court has ordered that all judicial officers of the District Courts in Delhi shall take up urgent matters and ‘final arguments cases’ of their respective courts through video-conferencing till 23.07.2021, while the other matters shall be adjourned by them, with effect from July 1, 2021. Further, through another office order, all the Benches of the High Court, as well as the Courts of Registrars/Joint Registrars (Judicial), shall continue to take up urgent matters, as per the existing arrangement through VC and additionally, the cases instituted in the year 2020 shall also be taken up by High Court, as per roster, w.e.f. 03.07.2021 till 23.07.2021.
