Muslim man’s conversion to no avail as his “wife” says in court that she was deceived by him

A 33-year-old Muslim man, Mohd Ibrahim Sidhiqui, who had converted to Hinduism and taken the name of Aryan Arya in order to marry his paramour, a 23-year-old Jain girl by the name Anjali Jain, has been severely rebuffed by his “wife”.

Before the Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra on Monday (August 27) the girl said that she wanted to stay with her parents, because she was deceived into marriage by the man. The court, thereby, rejected the man’s petition.

The girl’s parents had taken her into custody and the Chattisgarh High Court had refused to interfere. At that the man had approached the top court, demanding that his wife be released from her parents’ custody. His demand had said that the high court had erroneously declined to direct his wife’s family to release her to him.

At the last hearing the top court had ordered the SP of Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari (where the girl lives) in the court today. In court on Monday the Chhattisgarh police introduced the girl to the bench.

It was there that the girl made the explosive comment, bringing to an end the entire drama.
