Allahabad High Court asks Prayagraj DM to provide security to candidates for filing nomination for Block Pramukh polls

The Court has directed the District Magistrate, Allahabad and the Senior Superintendent of Police to ensure that the entire process of submitting nomination papers is completed in a free and fair manner and no candidate is intimidated by their rivals.

The Allahabad High Court has directed to provide security to the Samajwadi Party candidate Kalpana Pandey and others for filing nominations for the election of block chief, from Shringverpur block of Prayagraj.

The division bench of Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice Sadhna Rani Thakur passed this order while hearing a Petition filed by Kalpana Pandey.

In this Petition, as regard the prayer no.1 for providing security to the petitioner to submit her nomination paper in the Panchayat Bhawan, it is submitted by Imran Syed, Counsel for the respondent- Commission that the State Election Commission has issued directions to the District Magistrates of all the districts to provide adequate security to all the candidates so that they may submit their nomination papers in a free and fair manner. A circular in this regard has been issued by the Commission on July 05, 2021.

“Having noticed the above, we may further note that the date of filing of nomination is July 08, 2021. We, therefore, dispose of the Petition with the direction to the respondents to make necessary arrangement for providing adequate security to the Petitioner so that she may reach the Office concerned to file her nomination paper, without any hindrance”, the Court said.

The Court has directed the District Magistrate, Allahabad and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Allahabad are further directed to ensure that the entire process of submitting nomination papers is completed in a free and fair manner and no candidate is intimidated by their rivals.
