Punjab Police gets permission to arrest Lawrence Bishnoi in murder case of Sidhu Moose Wala

The Delhi Court permitted Punjab Police on Tuesday to arrest jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the murder of renowned Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala.

Unknown assailants had shot Moose Wala on May 29, while he was travelling in his car, along with his friends. As per the post-mortem report, at least 19 bullets were found on the singer’s body, leading to his death within 15 minutes of being shot.

Soon after the shootout, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility of the murder on social media. Later, Lawrence Bishnoi, who was lodged in jail at the time of the incident, also claimed to have killed Moose Wala.

Reportedly, Goldy Brar was part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The AAP government in Punjab had come under huge criticism after the incident, as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had curtailed the security cover of 424 VVIPs on May 28, while Moose Wala was shot on May 29 at Jawaharke village in Mansa district of Punjab.

Police has remained on its toes in the case, making arrests from all over the country. Six people were arrested from Dehradun. On June 7, Punjab Police arrested one person, identified as Sandeep alias Kenkra, resident of Kalanwali village in Sirsa district of Haryana.

Sandeep had allegedly passed on information about Moose Wala’s movement to the shooters involved in the killing.

Eight sharp shooters had also been identified.

On June 13, Pune police had detained shooter Santosh Jadhav. It had also arrested an aide of Santosh Jadhav, identified as Navnath Suryawanshi, as suspect in the case.
