Rakul Preet plea: News Broadcasters Association asks for 3 weeks to reply, News Broadcasting Standards Authority gets 2 weeks

New Delhi (ILNS): The Delhi High Court today directed the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) to reply within two weeks in a plea filed by Rakul Preet Singh. The actor had alleged that a ‘media trial’ was being held against her in the Sushant Singh Rajput case after she was named by Rhea Chakrabarty in a statement to the CBI.

Justice Navin Chawla further directed Rakul to file an affidavit in the matter.

Meanwhile, the counsel for the News Broadcasters Association asked for 3 weeks as they have asked ten news channels to represent the petition.

Rakul was questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on September 25.

The Bollywood actress has sought direction from the court to restrain the media from reporting on her in connection to the Rhea Chakraborty drug case.

Rakul’s counsel said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has not taken any action so far as directed by the court earlier. The counsel also said that the advisory of the Press Council was also not being adhered to.

The bench has listed the matter for further hearing on December 11.
