Associated Journals ltd (AJL), publishers of the Congress mouthpiece National Herald will be approaching the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order to vacate the Herald House, a prime property on Delhi’s Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg that has functioned as the papers office for over five decades.

On Thursday, the Delhi High Court had upheld the earlier verdict of the single bench, wherein the AJL was asked to evict the building. The Court has not clarified on the time in which AJL has to evict the Herald building. Nikhil Bhalla, Counsel in National Herald case said today: “Had received a notice last evening and we had informed that we’ll be approaching the Supreme Court in the coming week. Don’t know why officials of Land and Development Office came here today.There is no question of vacating the property now.”

Last year, the government had given AJL time till October 30 vacate the building as the old lease was lapsed. BJP MP Subramanian Swamy had earlier alleged that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi  and Congress president Rahul Gandhi had set up a company and a rampant corruption took place in it, and it is a classic example of it. The company was started by Rahul Gandhi’s great grandfather Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1938.
