Punjab has yet to submit its action plan vis-à-vis different landfill sites and water bodies that have been filled up. This emanates from the Ghazipur landfill site Waste to Energy Plant (WTE) where 16 landfill areas are filled up and converted into green, but dumping goes on. It was here that two cars fell into a ditch when sewage as landfill collapsed.

The National Green Tribunal bench headed by Justice Swatanter Kumar is hearing matters related to management of municipal solid waste under MSW Rules.

In the last date of hearing the bench gave counsels the last opportunity to come out with a solution for exchange of land.

The matter has been listed for January 23, 2018.
