There was a change of guard at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Thursday (December 14) when senior advocate and former Additional Solicitor General (during the UPA regime) Vikas Singh was elected as its President.

He replaces incumbent president senior advocate Rupinder S Suri. On his way to the post, Singh defeated former president Dushyant Dave. Singh got 639 of the 1546 valid votes, while Dave got 417. Suri finished third with 307 votes.

Others in the fray for the post were senior advocate V Shekhar and R P Luthra.

The vice-president’s post went to senior advocate Sukumar Pattjoshi, while Vikrant Yadav was elected as General Secretary of the SCBA. The joint secretary’s post went to advocate Rahul Kaushik.

Later Singh said that his priority would be to provide “social security for the lawyers…” He also talked about “mutual respect between bar and bench. SCBA under my leadership will make all efforts to maintain it”.

Maneesh Kumar Dubey and Piyush Kanti Roy are treasurer and Joint treasurer, respectively.
