DSGMC sends Legal notice to Amazon Prime Video for portraying the Sikhs as rapists in the web series Patal Lok

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) through its President S Mnjinder Singh Sirsa has sent legal notices to Directors of the Amazon Prime series “Patal Lok” and Amazon Seller Services Pvt. Ltd. for broadcasting and portraying the Sikhs as rapists in the said series which is being aired on Amazon Prime Video.

DSGMC has alleged that there is a scene in the series which depicts a Sikh person raping an elderly women in front of many other Sikh people including the husband and father in law of the said women. It has been said that by depicting the scene of rape the noticees have degraded the image of Sikhs all over the world.

Citing examples from history, the DSGMC has stated that “even the history itself speaks, how the sikh people have saved thousands of women and girls from the clutches of Mughal at the cost of their lives.”

The DSGMC has further stated that showing the rape scene is nothing but a mere abuse of religious sentiments of the Sikh Community.

Raising objections of the said act, the DSGMC has issued notices to remove the rape scene withing 24 hours after receipt of the notice and unconditionally call back all advertisement featuring the said scene and tender anunconditional apology to DSGMC and all the Sikh Sangat.
