2 schools allegedly collect arbitrary fees, guardians’ body moves Rajasthan High Court

New Delhi (ILNS): The Rajasthan High Court issued notice and asked for clarification from the Sand Dunes School and the St Anselam School Mansarovar on alleged non compliance with the Rajasthan Schools (Regulation of Fee) Act, 2016 and demanding ‘arbitrary’ fees from parents. The notices were issued to the Directors of Education and Sand Dunes School and the St Anselam School Mansarovar seeing a reply.

The court was hearing a writ petition by the Joint Parents’ Association, on behalf of Dinesh Kumawat and other parents, claiming that the schools were collecting fees in the name of board registration.

The petition states that the schools were not following the Fee Act rule and are asking for fees in an illegitimate manner by creating various items of fees. Moreover, said the petition, arbitrary fees were being collected in the name of board registration and that the right to education is being violated by the schools denying online education for not depositing such fees.

Advocate Amit Chhangani said that despite several complaints to the Education Department, no action has been taken so far. This has forced the guardians approach the court for justice.
