Aryan Khan case: No bail for another day, NCB to present its argument in Bombay HC

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday adjourned the bail hearing in the Aryan Khan case till Thursday after Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh and Senior Advocate Amit Desai concluded their arguments for others accused in the case.

Appearing for Munmun Dhamecha, Deshmukh said she had no connection with the recoveries made during the searches on the cruise. Representing accused Arbaaz Merchant, Desai said there was no grounds for conspiracy, as alleged by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). If there are 3 unconnected persons coming for the same purpose, that is no conspiracy, he told the single-judge bench of Justice Nitin W Sambre, who’s hearing Aryan Khan’s bail application.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Aryan Khan, had concluded his arguments on Tuesday. Rohatgi had called his arrest arbitrary saying the NCB had made no recovery from the 23-year-old, nor conducted a medical examination to show consumption of any narcotic. Aryan Khan has been in NCB custody since October 3 and has been denied bail twice before.

The NDPS court had denied him bail last week saying that he knew about the charas hidden in friend Arbaaz Merchant’s shoe, and this amounted to “conscious possession”. On behalf of the NCB, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh will present arguments in the High Court on Thursday. He told the Court today that he will take an hour to conclude arguments.
