Sidhu Moosewala murder: Plea in Supreme Court seeks CBI inquiry into singer’s day-light killing

A plea has been moved in the Supreme Court on Friday seeking a CBI investigation into the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala as they believe involvement of foreign hand in the murder.

The plea in the Supreme Court has been filed by Punjab BJP leader Jagjit Singh who stated that the state has failed miserably in preventing crime. He contended that the state administration has now created an atmosphere of fear and terror.

The killing of the singer has raised a million questions. “The way the cold-blooded killing was done in broad daylight is indicative of the fact that the state machinery in the state of Punjab has miserably failed in its duty not only to prevent the crime but also to effectively curb the menace of gang wars,” the petition said.

The plea was filed by advocate Namit Saxena who said the storm of fear and terror in Punjab warrants interference by this Apex Court as fundamental rights of the entire population of Punjab have been jeopardized at large.

The plea has mentioned that the state even after being aware of the death threats and intimidation the singer was receiving from international crime syndicates, took away his security. This change in security and then killing the other day cannot be merely accidental in nature.

The plea further questions that even if the seurity was removed, why was it publicly announced as to call the predator to take the prey.

The petition states, “Making public the names of the individuals whose official security was withdrawn or downgraded reflected a lapse on the part of the state government.”

The intimidatory calls from international crime syndicates for the last two years that were received by the singer were testimony to the fact that Moosewala was in trouble.

The plea mentions that Moosewala’s killing has led to a “speculative public discourse” which has a fair chance of misleading media and investigation.

The plea states that the father of deceased is devastated and the public is disturbed, so to put an end to all of this, and instill faith in the system, the matter should be sent to the CBI for the investigation.

The person who has been accused in the killing have already fled to various states of the country and its only a central agency which can do this pan-India investigation.
