DPIIT makes Recommendation to MHA for Allowing more Industries to Operate with safeguards amid lockdown

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade has given recommendation for consideration of Ministry of Home Affairs to allow more industries to operate with reasonable safeguards even if government decide to extend lockdown, in order to improve the economic activity and to provide liquidity in the hands of people.

The recommendations have been made after a detailed meeting of CIM with various States and the feedbacks received by DPIIT and DoC.

DPIIT has sought free movement of the vehicles and manpower required for continuing the activities permitted by MHA. Industries shall be allowed to operate with single entry points, ensuring social distancing, arrangements for stay of worker in industry premises or use of separate vehicle for ferrying, high quality regular sanitization of the premises and strict observance of these conditions by state and district authorities.

According to the letter it has also been recommended that big companies with proper sanitation and distancing norms in place in sectors such as textile, automobiles and electronic manufacturing, companies with export commitments need to be allowed with minimal manpower.

On a single shift basis the letter has recommended following industries:

  • Heavy electrical items like transformers and circuit vehicles;
  • Telecom equipment and components including Optic Fiber Cable;
  • Compressor and Condenser units;
  • Fertilizer plants;
  • All types of food and beverages; etc.

Recommendation has also been made for the operation of certain individuals or small agencies involved in providing repair services in mobile, electrical items, etc. Manufacturing units of rubber items related to medical/ health care and domestic system.

Further many other recommendations have been made based on the current need of the society and are pending for the consideration by MHA.
