On Thursday (July 20), BJP MP Subramanian Swamy had moved the Delhi High Court through a PIL, urging a time-bound, court-monitored, multi-disciplinary probe into the death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.

On Saturday (July 22), Sunanda’s son Shiv Menon approached the court, seeking intervention in the PIL as he questioned Swamy’s locus standi in the case.

Menon also sought expediting of investigation.

During the last hearing, Delhi Police standing counsel Rahul Mehra, along with counsel Tushar Sannu, requested some more time to file the status report as ordered by the court. The matter was listed tentatively for August 1 by the court.

But Saturday’s approach by Menon has changed the situation a bit.

Menon’s intervention issue is likely to be heard on July 24.

The case has remained hanging fire for long. However, Swamy’s intervention is seen to be more of a political intervention, than one out of a quest for truth and justice.
