Covid vaccination

A PIL was registered suo motu by Chief Justice PR Ramachandra Menon and Justice Parth Prateem Sahu because of various interlocutory applications with different prayers with regard to the conditions in jails amid the Covid-19 pandemic and also in respect of some circulars issued by the authorities.

Showing its concern for senior citizens, the Bombay High Court asked the centre if it was possible to inject them at home. It took the example of Los Angeles and Israel.

Both the aforesaid vaccines have been found to be effective against Covid-19 and may provide adequate protection from the disease on successful administration of two doses of the vaccines, the petition highlighted.

The Delhi High Court will hear tomorrow, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions to the Centre and the Delhi government to remove age limitations for deciding upon the beneficiaries of COVID-19 vaccination.

The selective way in which the government is vaccinating the population came in for stricture from the Delhi High Court which asked it to explain why it was keeping such “strict control” over the process.
