Health and Working Conditions Code

A slew of amended labour laws were pushed through the Rajya Sabha session which ended on Wednesday. India Legal has already published an analysis of the Farm Bills that have been passed. The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 (OSH) was introduced in Lok Sabha on September 19 and passed on September 22. It was introduced and passed in Rajya Sabha on September 23.

Since the announcement of the nationwide lockdown on March 25, 2020, the economy has been reeling under tremendous pressure from severe livelihood losses (78 percent), rising unemployment rate (47 percent), severe decline in consumption and production and an almost 24 percent contraction in GDP.
