The Supreme Court of India on Thursday celebrated the first-ever International Day of Women Judges, to promote full and equal participation of women at all levels of the judiciary.
The Madras High Court has frowned upon its own Registry for attempting to exercise judicial powers by segregating connected cases and listing one set of those cases before a Division Bench and the other before a single Bench.
A division bench of Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Arijit Banerjee suggested that in such cases, proceedings for misconduct should be initiated against errant officers.
