Amendments were recently introduced keeping in mind the sensitivity of issues pertaining to child protection and empowers DMs to coordinate and monitor agencies responsible for implementing the Act.

The Allahabad High Court has directed the police to produce gang-rape victim of Phoolpur before the later today. The Court also directed SSP Prayagraj Sarvsreshtha Tripathi and SHO Phulpur Rakesh Chaurasia and former SHO Brijesh Kumar to be present before the court.

The Supreme Court today reserved its order on a batch of petitions in the alleged Hathras gang rape and murder case. The issues under consideration by the court are: who would monitor the CBI, if the case should be transferred and which agency will provide security.

The Uttar Pradesh government has filed an affidavit with the Supreme Court, in which it has claimed that permission was taken from the family of the Hathras victim before cremation. The government has also claimed that the families in question “had personal enmity since a long time.”
