The Allahabad High Court has held that the Diploma in Elementary Education (D El Ed) training done after intermediate is valid for appointment to the post of Assistant Teacher. The High Court has directed the assistant teachers possessing such qualifications be paid salaries and arrears.
This order has been given by Justice Arvind Kumar Mishra while accepting the petition of Pooja Kumari.
The petitioner said she was appointed on September 4, 2018 under the recruitment of 68,500 assistant teachers. The petitioner joined the post of assistant teacher in Gorakhpur. However, Basic Shiksha Adhikari Gorakhpur stopped the salary on the grounds that petitioner received two years of D.El.Ed. training after intermediate from Rajasthan. The BSA has sent a letter to the Secretary Basic Education seeking directions. When no response was received, a petition was filed in the High Court.
The petitioner’s advocate said that as per the notification issued by NCT on August 23, 2010 it is necessary for an assistant teacher to pass the intermediate with 50 percent marks and two-year training in whatever name it may go.
The petitioner graduated after D.El.Ed. Accepting the Petition, the Court has directed the respondent to pay salaries and arrears.
