Accommodating alliance partners is always a major problem following an election, particularly is those are someone like former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Mahanta. To discuss these are other issues, the chief minister in waiting and State BJP president Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma accompanied by general secretary in-charge Ram Madhav and secretary Mahendra Singh have arrived in Delhi on Friday.
Sources say that Sonowal would be calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to submit his resignation from the Union Council of Ministers. But more importantly Sonowal will be meeting BJP national president Amit Shah to discuss ministry formation in Assam. If sources are to be believed then first time MLAs are likely to be excluded from the list of ministers. However, this is still in a fluid stage. Allies like AGP and BPF are also likely to be consulted regarding induction of their MLAs in the Council of Ministers.
The party is also yet to take a decision on former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, though indications were that he may be offered the post of Speaker or given the option of joining as a Governor.
