Justice Sanjay Yadav appointed acting Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court

Justice Sanjay Yadav will take charge from April 14 after Chief Justice Govind Mathur retirement.

President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Senior Justice Sanjay Yadav of Allahabad High Court as acting Chief Justice.

Justice Sanjay Yadav will take charge from April 14 after Chief Justice Govind Mathur retirement. Chief Justice Mathur’s term is till April 13.

The acting Chief Justice has been appointed even before he retires. Its notification has been issued by Additional Secretary to the Government of India, Rajinder Kashyap.

A notification issued by the Law Ministry states, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sanjay Yadav, senior-most Judge of Allahabad High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 14th April 2021 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Govind Mathur, Chief Justice, Allahabad High Court.”
