The Special Bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Surya Kant was hearing the PIL filed by NGO Lok Prahari through its general secretary.

Advocate Ashima Mandla for the petitioner submitted during the hearing today that pleadings are not completed in this matter as only 24 respondents have filed their counter-affidavit.

The bench of Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and Justice A.S. Bopanna issued notice to the Ministry of Home, Law & Justice and Ministry of Culture.

The Court earlier on 27.03.2020 had extended the period of limitation prescribed under the general law or special laws whether compoundable or not with effect from 15.03.2020 till further orders. The order dated 15.03.2020 was extended from time to time.

The bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde, Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian heard the petition seeking an independent investigation into Hyderabad’s alleged fake encounter of the four rape-murder accused that took place in November 2019.

A bench of Chief Justice S.A. Bobde, Justice A.S. Bopanna and Justice V. Ramasubramanian questioned Uniyal that whether the matter is connected with some other matter before the bench. The petitioner said the plea is connected with some other matter.
